WELCOME TO HYLA Welcome to the HYLA homepage! What is HYLA? HYLA (otherwise known as the Houston Young Lawyers Association) is a specialty bar association. Our regular membership consists of attorneys who are 36 years of age and under as well as attorneys who are over 36 and are practicing law for five years or less. Our associate membership consists of law students, who are awaiting their bar results. Our membership spans all types of law practices: Large, medium, and small firms, in-house counsel, the non-profit sector, solo practitioners, and law students to name a few. HYLA is a fun, diverse organization that gives its membership an opportunity to experience more than just practicing law. It allows them to serve the community, socialize, network, and enjoy recreational activities. People join HYLA for a variety of reasons: to network, to make friends, to be leaders. We have something to offer everyone, if you want to be involved a little or a lot. Whatever your reason is for joining, we welcome you and hope you enjoy participating in our varied activities. It is a great way to show the legal field how dedicated you are to your chosen profession and that you would make a valuable employee. FINAL THURSDAY - May 29, 2008 6 to 8 p.m. Downtown Club at the Met One Allen Center HYLA Members - Free Non-HYLA Members - $10 at door This event will be the kickoff to HYLF's Tennis Tournament benefiting HYLF and the Zina Garrison All Court Tennis Academy, a 501(c)3 organization that promotes tennis and education. This event is also a fundraiser; donations will be accepted and greatly appreciated! If you happen to be a tennis buff, the Downtown Club at the Met will be providing an exhibition and tennis clinic for the benefit of our members. The fee to participate in the tennis clinic is $15. And even if you don't play tennis, we hope you will come out and support HYLA, HYLF, and Zina Garrison's All Court Tennis Academy while you mingle and network with other young lawyers!

HYLF Cross Court Challenge Tennis Tournament HYLF will host its inaugural Cross Court Challenge Tennis Tournament on the weekend of May 30 - June 1, 2008, starting at 5 p.m. The Cross Court Challenge is a non-sanctioned USTA tournament and will be held at the Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner. All proceeds for this event will also benefit HYLF and the Zina Garrison All Court Tennis Academy. Your contribution will be considered a charitable tax-deduction donation as determined by law. It's Membership Renewal Time Again HYLA's 2007-2008 bar year ends on May 31, 2008. It has been a wonderful year and the organization has accomplished so much! Thank you to the many people, law firms, corporations, companies, etc. who have contributed to the year's success! Membership renewals for the 2008-2009 bar year will go out shortly. Although members will receive their hard copy renewal form in the mail, they can still renew online with credit card payments. We look forward to seeing you at our events in the upcoming year!
