Tomorrow's Attorneys Pipeline Project
High School|College|Law School|Professionals Tomorrow’s Attorneys Pipeline Program (TAPP) is dedicated to increasing diversity in the legal professio n by targeting diverse high school students and providing them concrete, motivating opportunities to learn about the law and begin planning for their law school education. Helping the legal profession more adequately represent the people it serves is the primary goal of TAPP. In pursuing this endeavor, HYLA joins the ranks of the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Corporate Counsel, and numerous corporate legal departments and other organizations, all of whom have already established pipeline programs.
In order for students to be prepared for law school, they need to start making good choices in high school, TAPP attorneys will:
- 1) visit Houston area classrooms to discuss legal careers;
- 2) provide an opportunity for high school students to meet lawyers one-on-one;
- 3) provide materials to students regarding preparation for law school and diversity programs that provide support before and during law school;
- 4)take participating students to observe a courtroom to observe lawyers in action;
- 5) help other programs that support the pipeline;
- 6) encourage diverse law school students and attorneys to get involved with the Houston Young Lawyers Association.
How you can help: You can help by contributing financially and by participating in the classroom or by participating at the courthouse or at a mentoring lunch.
