Valerie Salcido

Law Student Director (Thurgood Marshall School of Law)

Valerie serves as the HYLA Student Director for Thurgood Marshall School of Law (“TMSL”) and is currently a Judicial Intern for Federal Magistrate Judge Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Valerie also works as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Urban Research and Resource Center (“URRC”) under Marcia Johnson, the founder of URRC and the Earl Carl Institute for Legal and Social Policy, Inc., a non-profit think tank. Valerie loves her school and is actively involved with TMSL as a Law Review Editor, Property Law Tutor, and the newly established Collaborative Experiential Learning (“CEL”) Director of Events.

As CEL Director, Valerie coordinated with the Offices of External Affairs, Career & Professional Development, and Academic Support to effectively develop, coordinate, and execute an innovative program comprised of a simulated negotiation and networking reception for over 120 participating students and approximately 30 practicing attorneys
