Tara Grigg Garlinghouse
Tara Grigg Garlinghouse is a native Houstonian and Rice graduate who returned home after completing a joint JD/MPP with the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Tara spent her time in graduate school specializing in child welfare law and then clerked for the Honorable Micaela Alvarez in the Southern District of Texas in McAllen. In 2015, Tara was named a Skadden Fellow and worked in the Disability Rights Texas Houston office representing children in foster care with disabilities in their state court proceedings, and also in ancillary litigation such as special education matters and appeals of wrongful Medicaid denials. Tara continues to expound on this work after her fellowship with the addition of representing parents with disabilities and working on policy analysis with national child welfare organizations.
